Photo Blues

So...
I have been working on taking some better shots for my blog. Not to mention getting in as much practice with photography as possible. Unfortunately, I am not in ownership of a DSLR right now. I am in the process of trying to find one that does not go ten times over my budget, yet still takes amazing photos. I think that I may have found the one I want. I have been looking at the Canon PowerShot SX50.

Although using my iPhone is always interesting (especially without a tripod), I have been really wanting a DSLR for some time now. Luckily, I get a small discount at B&H thanks to my film/photo/media concentrated school (Side Note: I think that as long as you have a .edu address, both students and faculty from any school can sign up the this discount. Feel free to find out). I have had no luck finding this camera in my local area to take a good up close look. Once I can do that it is just a matter of committing to the purchase. Until then, iPhone it is!

Man Repeller Glossybox

My January Glossybox finally came (on Feb. 2, go figure)! I only purchased a one month subscription because I wasn't sure how I would like it. It took forever and a day but I was pleased with what came inside. The January box was supposed to be the Man Repeller "Survival Kit", So the y worked with Leandra Medine to compile a box with seven samples:

  • Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara
  • Fresh Umbrian Clay Mattifying Serum
  • Le Metier De Beaute Replenishing Daily Solution (Foil Packet)
  • Narciso Rodriguez for Her Eau De Toilette
  • OPI "Can't Let Go" Liquid Sand Nail Lacquer (Full Size)
  • Sebastian Professional Potion 9
  • Tarte Glamazon Pure Pure Performance 12-hour Lipstick in Fierce (Full Size)

I think I am most excited about the lipstick. I always end up with berry and pink. No matter how badly I wanted red lipstick, I never got around to it. I am very excited to wear it!

I have been doing a lot of we surfing lately. Some of my favorite sites and blogs:

These are just a few sites that I frequent. I have too many favorites to name. Check them out and tell what you think.

Still working on my apartment hunt. I did find one that I really like. It fits the some of the decor ideas that I have best as well. I don't want to get ahead of myself, so I am still looking around. I am also still peeking around at some other furniture and decorating ideas.

Back to Basics...

I decided that I am going to start juicing again. last year I had several spurts of time where I would juice almost everyday. I have kind of let the craziness of life throw off my fairly good eating habits and exercise lately. I want to do 2-3 day juice fasts once a week. Once I start, I will know if I can do it more or less. It depends on my energy level with work and school. If I can't do small weekly fasts, then I think 2-3 times daily would be a good alternative. I am definitely going to give it a shot.

I also have been slacking on my eating habits. Typically I only have to worry about controlling my sweet tooth. I have been eating whatever nowadays. Working at a bake shop doesn't help. All of the (white) carbs I have been consuming is ridiculous! Going back to pescitarian (seafood only, no red meat or poultry) is my best bet. I did it for ever a year up until recently. I haven't really been a pork or beef eater in years though; Mainly just seafood and poultry. I will update on my workout, juicing and diet in a later post.

Mellow

I have not had much time to party lately. The new job, school and life's little priorities seem to have my schedule full up. In addition, the only person that I really know here is my best friend, who works twice as much as I do. Any extra time that I have, I like to divulge in some sort of personal entertainment.

Some shots I have taken in the past couple of months...

Outdated

Since moving (or at least partially), I have yet to bring much of my wardrobe to my new place yet. I mostly packed the things that I wear most often. I am really realizing how much I miss those random items that wear every once in a while. I have even been thrifting a couple of times and and added a few new things.

I cant wait to get everything here so that I can go through them and decipher what to keep and what to eliminate. Also, I am in the process of, somewhat, updating my wardrobe. I will be 25 in just over a month, so I want to get rid of the more juvenile pieces and things I'm no longer into. So that I can replace them with some staple pieces and things that I like nowadays. Updating your wardrobe can be a very stressful thing. Especially when buying a few items at a time. I should be able to complete everything by my birthday (I started late last year).

Decor Roundabouts

Since I will be moving in the coming months, and have to start from scratch with furniture and decorating, I have been taking time to do some looking around for some good pieces for my new place. Nothing is set in stone, but I think by looking around I can have a good idea as to what I want when the
time comes.

I absolutely love artwork of all kinds. So, needless to say I have been looking at tons. I have been eyeing this beautiful photo of Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany's from Ikea for the longest.

Style Ramblings

Style is not something learned. This may seem like common sense to some, strange to others. Everyone has their own sense of personal style. Though you can learn trends or what may look good together, only you can decide what you feel most comfortable and stylish in. I disagree with many trying to categorize their style into one box, as if bubbling in a scantron, I dress how I feel. I dress in what makes makes feel that I look best. After all, How do you think designers come up with new designs? It is something within them that they feel looks good. I couldn't tell you how many categories I have been placed in. I have a category...it's called ME!

Transcend into your own style. Accept what you like. Let it develop over time.

Introductory Ramblings

I am a 25 year old college student and future Fashion Publicist. I absolutely adore beautiful/interesting clothing. Gorgeous makeup and hair also have been known to take my breathe away from time to time. When starting this blog, I wanted to create a virtual Fashion/beauty montage if you will. Encompassing all of my many interests (Fashion, Beauty, Hair, Photography,Writing, Art, Music, you get the picture). By any means I am not a professional blogger, just an individual documenting my thoughts and ideas.
